While do-it-yourself veterans may not think twice before tackling an
installation, it is most likely the first time you have attempted something like

Take the time to read and internalize the instructions before you start assembling anything. Reading the instructions thoroughly may seem like a waste of time, but doing so can save you trouble in the end.

Use the Proper Tools
Garage door openers generally do not include any tools, so having the proper tools will speed up your install considerably. Don't try to "make do" with whatever tools you have on hand.
